About EDGARScout
EDGARScout is a free suite of tools for searching SEC EDGAR filings, looking up SIC codes, viewing 13F institutional holdings, finding CIK numbers, and accessing EDGAR APIs. We built the tools we wished existed when we started researching public company filings.
Our Mission
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's EDGAR database contains some of the most valuable publicly available financial data in the world. Every quarter, thousands of institutional investors disclose their holdings. Every year, tens of thousands of public companies file their annual and quarterly reports. This information is public by law — but it has historically been difficult to access without specialized tools or paid subscriptions.
EDGARScout changes that. We provide a clean, fast, and completely free interface to SEC EDGAR data, using only official government APIs. No scrapers, no third-party data feeds — just the same authoritative source regulators and professional investors use, presented in a way that anyone can understand.
What We Offer
Our tools cover the major use cases for SEC EDGAR data access. The Company Filing Search lets you find any public company's filings in seconds. The SIC Code Lookup helps businesses and researchers find Standard Industrial Classification codes. The 13F Holdings Viewer allows investors to track institutional portfolio disclosures. The CIK Lookup helps developers and analysts find the unique identifier used by SEC EDGAR for each registrant. The Full-Text Search enables keyword searching across millions of SEC filings. And the RSS Feed Reader provides a clean, readable interface for monitoring new filings in real time.
Beyond tools, our comprehensive guides cover every major aspect of SEC filings — from what a 10-K annual report contains to how to use the EDGAR REST API in Python. Our editorial team writes for a mixed audience of retail investors, financial professionals, and software developers.
How We Build Our Tools
Every tool on EDGARScout connects directly to official SEC EDGAR APIs. Our primary data sources are data.sec.gov, which provides structured JSON data on company filings, facts, and submissions, and efts.sec.gov, which powers the EDGAR full-text search system. We do not store or cache private user queries. See our Methodology page for technical details.
